The red line corresponds to the contact surface in the snow. This is shorter than with the traditional ski. The ski is therefore very easy to turn. At the same time the small aggressive radii at the point of the ski and at the end are eliminated, which means that the ski can not catch on these points.

When tipped, the contact surface becomes larger, the contact points move towards the front and the back, and this leads to very high curve control and grip.
